अशासकीय महाविद्यालयों यानि कुल 123 महाविद्यालयों में सुबह नौ बजे से दोपहर दो बजे तक मतदान होगा। उसके तुरंत बाद मतगणना होगी और शाम को सभी कालेजों के छात्र संघ चुनाव के परिणाम घोषित किए जाएंगे।

छात्र संघ चुनाव के दौरान लिंग्दोह कमेटी के नियमों का सख्ती से पालन करवाया जाएगा। छात्रसंघ चुनाव में राजनीतिक दलों ने भी इस अपनी प्रतिष्ठा का सवाल बना रखा है। राजनीतिक दलों के पदाधिकारी चुनाव में रणनीतिकार की सक्रिय भूमिका बना रहे हैं। प्रदेशभर के 119 राजकीय महाविद्यालय, तीन राज्य विश्वविद्यालयों श्रीदेव सुमन उत्तराखंड विवि, कुमाऊं विवि हल्द्वानी व सोबन सिंह जीना विवि अल्मोड़ा से संबद्ध हैं।
जबकि देहरादून के चार सहायता प्रात अशासकीय महाविद्यालय डीएवी, डीबीएस, श्री गुरु राम राय पीजी कालेज व एमकेपी पीजी कालेज हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा केंद्रीय विवि से संबद्ध हैं। छात्र संघ चुनाव में मुख्यत: भारतीय राष्ट्रीय छात्र संगठन (एनएसयूआइ), अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद (अभाविप), आर्यन, सत्यम शिवम छात्र संगठन, एसएफआइ के प्रत्याशी मैदान में उतरे हैं।

अभाविप और एनएसयूआइ ने लगभग सभी कालेजों में अपने प्रत्याशी उतारे हैं। अन्य छात्र संगठन कुछ ही कालेजों में चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं। प्रदेश के दो सबसे बड़े कालेज डीएवी पीजी कालेज देहरादून व एमबी कालेज हल्द्वानी में 10 हजार से अधिक छात्र मतदाता हैं। डीएवी कालेज में छात्र संघ चुनाव को लेकर किसी प्रकार की अप्रिय घटना न हो, इसे देखते हुए भारी पुलिसबल तैनात किया गया है।
डीएवी कालेज में अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद के लिए इस बार अध्यक्ष का चुनाव प्रतिष्ठा का सवाल बना हुआ है। अभाविप डीएवी पीजी कालेज में लगातार 13 बार अध्यक्ष पद पर जीत दर्ज करती आ रही है। इस बार उनके प्रत्याशी को एनएसयूआइ के अध्यक्ष पद के प्रत्याशी से कड़ी टक्कर मिल रही है।
उधर, उच्च शिक्षा निदेशक प्रो. महाबीर सिंह रावत ने बताया कि शनिवार को छात्र संघ चुनाव प्रदेश के तीन विवि से संबद्ध सभी राजकीय कालेजों व चार सहायता प्राप्त अशासकीय कालेज में एक ही दिन में संपन्न होंगे। सभी कालेज प्रशासन से शांतिपूर्ण और निष्पक्ष चुनाव संपन्न कराने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
चुनाव के दौरान लिंग्दोह कमेटी की ओर से तय किए गए नियमों का कड़ाई से पालन कराने के आदेश दिए गए हैं। उधर, सभी छात्र संगठनों, कालेज के शिक्षकों व कर्मचारियों को कोरोना को लेकर अतिरिक्त सर्तकता बरतने की सलाह दी गई है।
