कांग्रेस में दिग्गज नेताओं के बीच दूरियां मिटाने का सिलसिला तेज होता दिखाई दे रहा है। पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री एवं पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता हरीश रावत बुधवार को पूर्व नेता प्रतिपक्ष प्रीतम सिंह से मिलने उनके यमुना कालोनी स्थित आवास पहुंचे।
पार्टी के दोनों क्षत्रपों की मुलाकात के राजनीतिक निहितार्थ निकाले जा रहे हैं। दोनों नेताओं ने एकदूसरे के साथ काफी देर तक बातचीत की। साथ ही यह भी कहा कि कांग्रेस के सामने चुनौतियों का कांग्रेस एकजुट होकर सामना करेगी।
प्रदेश में अगले वर्ष लोकसभा चुनाव होने हैं। इसी वर्ष आठ महीने बाद नगर निकाय चुनाव भी होंगे। पार्टी इन चुनावों में पिछले इतिहास को दोहराना नहीं चाहती। इसे ध्यान में रखकर प्रदेश के दिग्गज नेताओं के रुख में भी बदलाव के आसार बनने लगे हैं।
पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री हरीश रावत के पूर्व नेता प्रतिपक्ष व चकराता से छठी बार विधायक प्रीतम सिंह से मिलने के लिए अचानक उनके आवास पर पहुंचने से पार्टी के भीतर भी राजनीति गर्मा गई है। दोनों नेताओं के बीच लंबे समय से तलवारें खिंची हुई हैं।
पिछले विधानसभा चुनाव से महज नौ महीने पहले प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष पद से हटाए जाने के बाद से प्रीतम और हरीश रावत एकदूसरे के आमने-सामने आ गए थे। प्रीतम सिंह को पार्टी ने नेता प्रतिपक्ष का पद थमाया था। चुनाव से पहले जहां हरीश रावत चेहरा घोषित करने पर बल देते रहे तो प्रीतम सिंह इसके विरोध में सामूहिक नेतृत्व में चुनाव लडऩे के प्रबल पैरोकार रहे थे।
विधानसभा चुनाव में हार के बाद कांग्रेस हाईकमान ने जब गाज गिराई तो उसकी जद में प्रीतम सिंह भी आए थे। नेता प्रतिपक्ष पद पर उनके दावे को पार्टी ने दरकिनार कर दिया। इस उपेक्षा से आहत प्रीतम सिंह और हरीश रावत के बीच छत्तीस का आंकड़ा रहा।
अब अगले वर्ष होने वाले लोकसभा चुनाव को ध्यान में रखकर पार्टी क्षत्रप राजनीतिक परिस्थितियों को सामान्य बनाने पर बल दे रहे हैं। माना जा रहा है कि हरीश रावत हरिद्वार संसदीय सीट से अपनी दावेदारी ठोक सकते हैं। पिछला लोकसभा चुनाव रावत ने नैनीताल संसदीय सीट से लड़ा था।
रावत हरिद्वार से सांसद तो रहे ही, केंद्र की यूपीए सरकार में कैबिनेट मंत्री और फिर प्रदेश का मुख्यमंत्री बनने में भी सफल रहे। प्रीतम सिंह की हरिद्वार के बड़े नेताओं में अच्छी पैठ मानी जाती है।
साथ में हरिद्वार सीट के अंतर्गत देहरादून जिले की तीन विधानसभा सीटों पर भी प्रीतम का रुख सहयोगी हरीश रावत के लिए लाभदायक स्थिति बना सकता है। दोनों नेताओं की मुलाकात को इस दृष्टि से भी देखा जा रहा है। इस मुलाकात के बाद प्रीतम सिंह ने कहा कि हरीश रावत पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता हैं।
उनसे मुलाकात के दौरान पार्टी को मजबूत बनाने पर चर्चा हुई। कमोबेश इसी तरह की टिप्पणी हरीश रावत ने भी की है। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस अपने लक्ष्य को पाने के लिए मजबूत इरादे के साथ आगे बढ़ेगी।
