लोक भवन इतिहास, विरासत और प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य का अद्भुत मिश्रण है। 2011 में निर्मित यह भवन पहाड़ी शैली को अपनाता है। यह वास्तुकला विरासत और आधुनिकता का संगम है, जो इसे खास बनाता है। यह न केवल प्रशासनिक केंद्र है, बल्कि राज्य की सांस्कृतिक धरोहर का भी प्रतीक है।
राजधानी देहरादून में स्थित जिस राजभवन का नाम बदलकर लोक भवन किया गया है, वह स्वयं में इतिहास, विरासत और प्राकृतिक सुंदरता का अद्भुत संगम है। ब्रिटिशकाल से लेकर अब तक के सफर को इस भवन ने बेहद करीब से देखा है।
यह न केवल उत्तराखंड की राजनीतिक पहचान को दर्शाता है, बल्कि राज्य के ऐतिहासिक और सांस्कृतिक मूल्यों का भी महत्वपूर्ण प्रतीक है। राज्य गठन के 25 साल बाद देहरादून के साथ ही नैनीताल स्थित राजभवन भी अब लोक भवन के नाम से जाना जाएगा। इसके साथ ही अब अभिलखों और साइनेज में लोक भवन नाम करने की कसरत भी शुरू कर दी गई है।
अतीत के आइने में झांके तो देहरादून में सर्किट हाउस परिसर में स्थित राजभवन वर्ष 1902 के आसपास बना था। ब्रिटिश काल में इसे गर्वनर हाउस, कमांडेंट हाउस व कोर्ट हाउस के नाम भी जाना जाता था। लगभग 40 एकड़ में फैले इस भवन का परिसर प्राकृतिक सुंदरता को और निखार देता है।
स्वतंत्रता के बाद पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू जब देहरादून आते थे तो इसी भवन में ठहरते थे। इसके अलावा अन्य प्रधानमंत्री और राष्ट्रपति भी इस ऐतिहासिक भवन में ठहर चुके हैं। यह भवन उत्तर प्रदेश के राज्यपाल का ग्रीष्मकालीन आवास भी रहा।
नौ नवंबर 2000 में उत्तराखंड राज्य का गठन होने पर इस भवन को उत्तराखंड राजभवन का दर्जा दिया गया। राज्य के पहले राज्यपाल सुरजीत सिंह बरनाला दिसंबर 2000 में इस भवन में शिफ्ट हुए। उनके बाद राज्यपाल सुदर्शन अग्रवाल, बीएल जोशी व मारग्रेट आल्वा इसी भवन में रहे। वर्ष 2010 में तत्कालीन राज्यपाल मारग्रेट आल्वा ने राजभवन परिसर में नए भवन का शिलान्यास किया। पहाड़ी शैली को समाहित करते हुए वर्ष 2011 में नया भवन बना और तब से सभी राज्यपाल इसी में निवास करते हैं।
2021 से लोक भवन की दिशा में बढ़े कदम
उत्तराखंड के वर्तमान राज्यपाल लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल गुरमीत सिंह (सेनि) ने सितंबर 2021 में पदभार संभालने के बाद राजभवन को लोक भवन बनाने की दिशा में कदम बढ़ाने शुरू कर दिए थे। इस भवन को आम जनता के लिए खोला गया तो राजभवन के परिसर में होने वाली पुष्प प्रदर्शनी की अवधि बढ़ाई गई। राजभवन के आडिटोरियम में निरंतरता में कार्यक्रम हो रहे हैं, जिससे आमजन का जुड़ाव उससे बढ़ा है।
